“City to blow up hotel to celebrate New Year”
A city in Georgia, US, says it will welcome 2025 with a really big bang — they’re going to blow up a 16-story hotel.
The city of Macon-Bibb on Tuesday approved a plan to implode a vacant 16-story hotel at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
The hotel has been vacant for more than eight years.
The city-county agreed on Tuesday to hire a demolition firm to blow up the building at a cost of up to $2.6 million.
The hotel was opened in 1970 and its guests included Elvis Presley, but it was never a financial success.
