“Men jailed for 50,000 years”
Thailand’s Criminal Court on Thursday handed down prison terms totalling almost 50,000 years each to three men found guilty in a financial fraud case.
The men were found guilty of three main charges of using loans to defraud, public fraud and inputting false information into a computer system.
The charges are related to a Forex-3D Ponzi scheme they set up on Facebook.
Nearly 10,000 people invested a total of 2.5 billion baht in the scheme.
The court found the three men guilty and sentenced them to 49,125 years for 9,825 offences. However, the law limits their total prison time to 20 years each.
