“School is full of twins”
A New York City high school will have its graduation day this weekend, and among the 500 students in its graduating class, 30 are twins.
The Plainview-Old Bethpage High School has an unusually high number of twins, and they’re not sure why.
“I guess there’s just something in the water,” said Emily Brake, who will graduate this weekend.
“We’re all just very lucky. I think it’s just a coincidence,” added her twin sister, Amanda Brake.
Others believe it’s because many of the parents had children through in vitro fertilization or IVF. Back then, it was more common than it is now for IVF babies to be twins or triplets.
Despite the high number, it’s not a record.
In 2017, a school in Illinois had a whopping 44 twin pairs and a set of triplets.
