“Artist makes smallest sculpture ever”
An artist has created so small that it can only be compared to a human blood cell.
David A Lindon, from Bournemouth, Dorset, has created a tiny sculpture called The Yellow Smiley Face, which sits on a stamp as a single microdot on the eye of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The sculpture is no bigger than a particle of talcum powder or human blood cell.
His artwork was so small that he sought help from scientists at Bournemouth University to measure the sculpture and verify the record using their specialised, high-resolution microscopes.
The artist works in the middle of the night when there is less traffic and fewer disturbances, and said he slows down his heartbeat to create his miniature sculptures.
