“Airport bans pyjamas, Crocs”
A major airport has ignited controversy over appropriate airport clothing after it announced it would be banning pyjamas and Crocs from its passenger terminals.
“We’ve seen enough. We’ve had enough,” Tampa International Airport announced last Friday.
The airport said it had seen travellers wearing pyjamas in broad daylight.
Later airport officials said the announcement was light-hearted, however it did start a discussion about appropriate flying attire and whether dress codes ought to be enforced.
While airports don’t enforce, there have been cases where passengers have been refused boarding or removed from planes based on their attire.
In 2024, Spirit Airlines said it would ban any passenger who was barefoot or not adequately clothed.
The ban included obscene tattoos and passengers with “an offensive odor”.
