“Weird speed limit makes drivers look twice”
One town in America is causing motorists to look twice at their speedometers.
The county of Outagamie in Wisconsin has set the speed limit for driving at 17.3 miles per hour, or 27.8 kilometres per hour.
The speed limit is being used for one part of town where there are lots of trucks.
Authorities say the weird number is intentional — and psychological.
“When you see the sign, it makes you stop and think: why?” officials said in a social media post. “It makes you look twice.”
The goal is to force drivers to pay closer attention to speed and safety while behind the wheel.
