“Competition banned because of smelly players”
A Yu-Gi-Oh tournament in the United States has been cancelled because the players are too smelly.
The shop responsible for the tournament made the decision after multiple complaints and negative reviews regarding the poor hygiene of the players.
Chronos Games & Gifts, an independent card shop in Beaverton, Oregon, went viral this week after announcing it was suspending all Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments for one week due to complaints about poor player hygiene and people “mistreating the restrooms.”
“We have had problems with people not leaving the toilets clean and have received multiple negative reviews due to poor hygiene,” the store stated.
According to the official Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament Guide, participants are expected to appear well-groomed at a tournament. “You are expected to start a tournament clean. Not washing yourself or not wearing clean clothes creates an unpleasant atmosphere, especially since tournaments are often crowded and long.”
Most of the local community sided with the shop.
