Man who died 3,000 years was shark attack victim
Archaeologists have discovered the earliest known shark attack victim who was killed around 3,000 years ago.
Researchers from Oxford University were investigating a skeleton of a prehistoric hunter-gatherer at Kyoto University.
The reviewers were surprised to see 790 injuries on the skeleton.
The injuries were on the arms, legs and front of the chest and abdomen.
In their report, the researchers said they were confused at first as to what may have caused the injuries.
In the end they discovered the truth — the man was the victim of a shark attack.
It’s the earliest known such attack, and surprising because the man was then buried in a common burial ground.
