“Restaurant diner discovers dinosaur fossil”
A patron at a restaurant in southwest China looked down at the floor and said: “That looks like a set of footprints.”
He was right.
The diner had spotted a set of footprints in the stone floor, and they turned out to be dinosaur fossils.
Experts who quickly came to the scene discovered a set of footprints which they say belong to two dinosaurs from 100 million years ago called sauropods.
Paleontologist Dr. Lida Xing said his team used a 3D scanner to confirm that the footprints were left by sauropods.
Sauropods were plant-eaters with small heads and long necks and tails, and they were monstrous.
Paleontologists say China has many places where dinosaur fossils are being found, including restaurants.
