“89-year-old woman receives her master’s degree”
An 89-year-old Florida woman has just received her master’s degree.
Joan Donovan celebrated earning her master’s degree in creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University.
Donovan said she graduated from high school at age 16, but her family didn’t have the money to send her to college.
Donovan went back to school after her children moved away from home, and she graduated with a bachelor’s degree at age 84.
“Then I said, ‘why not keep going?'” Donovan said. “
I was afraid to try college. So I say, ‘try things.’ If you fail, try it again … but just keep trying.”
