“Dog is ugliest in the world”
A seven year old dog has been officially named the world’s ugliest dog.
Scooter is a Chinese Crested dog with reversed hind legs and is nearly bald.
He was judged the “World’s Ugliest Dog” in Petaluma, California, where he took home the grand prize on Friday.
The contest’s title is meant to be tongue-in-cheek. The nearly 50-year-old event is held to show that these dogs are uniquely beautiful as well as asking people to adopt them.
Scooter was born with two deformed hind legs that hindered his ability to walk. He was nearly put down at birth.
But he was saved by a volunteer from an animal rescue group.
Linda Elmquist adopted Scooter seven months ago from a man with the rescue group.
She says that despite the title, Scooter has a beautiful heart.
