“Harrison Ford gets a snake named after him”
Scientists have named a snake after Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford.
The new species, named Tachymenoides harrisonfordi, was discovered in the Andes mountains in Peru.
It’s a slender snake measuring 40 centimetres long when fully grown. It is pale yellowish-brown and feeds on lizards and frogs.
Researchers said they named the new species after Ford in recognition of his decades-long environmental work.
Ford said he was “humbled” by the honor.
It is the third animal species to be named after Ford. Earlier, an ant and a spider were named after him. The slender snake is his first reptile namesake.
Interestingly, the character of Indiana Jones had a fear of snakes.
