“Giant onion weighs in at 9 kg”
Gareth Griffin noticed there was something strange about an onion he was growing — it was very, very big.
So he took it to the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show — and now it is being considered for being the largest onion in the world.
Griffin, from Guernsey, UK, says his onion weighed 19.77 pounds, or about 9 kilograms, more than the previous world record of 18.68 pounds.
The onion is on display at the show, alongside other giant vegetables that include a cabbage, cucumber and carrot.
Show organizers said the onion must now be reviewed by Guinness World Records.
