“Philly welcomes nude bicylists”
Hundreds of naked people bicycled through the streets of Philadelphia to cheers from onlookers last Saturday evening in the 15th annual Philly Naked Bike Ride.
The annual ride, which started in 2009, promotes cycling as an environmentally-friendly form of transportation.
It also encourages body positivity. Organizers said it wasn’t necessary to ride completely in the nude, saying bikers could get “as bare as you dare.”
The 19-km ride wasn’t limited only to bicycles, but also welcomed rollerblades or skates, skateboards and scooters.
The ride used to be held in September, but because of chilly weather it was moved to warmer August several years ago.
The 2020 ride was called off because of the pandemic.
