“Man steals gold toilet”
Two men have been arrested for stealing an 18-karat gold toilet.
The toilet was part of an art exhibition by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. It featured a fully functional gold toilet, and was displayed in a museum in London where it was stolen in 2019.
The toilet was valued at $6 million dollars, or about 202 million baht. This week, two of the people involved in the theft went to court and were convicted.
Michael Jones, 39, was found guilty of burglary while Fred Doe, 36, was found guilty of transferring criminal property.
The toilet has yet to be recovered. Prosecutors say it was dismantled and sold in parts.
One of the thieves said he used the toilet the day before the heist and described the experience as “splendid.”
