“Dog spends a year alone in Aussie outback”
A sausage dog has been found ‘fit and well’ despite spending 529 days alone in the Australian bush.
The dog, Valerie, went missing on Kangaroo Island in South Australia in November 2023.
News went viral that the dog was missing, and volunteers spent an estimated 1,000 hours and travelled nearly 2,000 kilometres around the island searching for her.
Finally she was found.
In a TikTok video posted this week, it was announced Valerie was fit and well.
Valerie vanished while with her owners were holidaying on the large island, which has a lot of dense scrub, making the search difficult.
Valerie escaped from her at their campsite before running into the scrub.
