“Gators in the drains!”
Residents in a Florida city have been told not to go exploring the big stormwater and sewer pipes underground. It’s just been discovered they’re full of alligators.
A work crew in Oviedo, Florida discovered a 2 metre gator in a sludge-filled sewer pipe.
“Don’t go wandering down into the stormwater pipes!” a spokesperson said, after the alligator was spotted Friday during a routine pothole inspection.
The alligator was captured in video footage. Officials said they initially mistook the alligator for a toad, until they saw “two little glowing eyes.” Then it opened its mouth.
The alligator managed to escape, and officials don’t know exactly how many of the animals are down in the sewer and stormwater pipes.
