Big duck causes traffic jam
Motorists in Maine got quite a surprise this week when a giant inflatable duck mysteriously appeared on the Penobscot River.
With its bright yellow color and enormous smile, the gigantic rubber duck —estimated to be around 8 metres tall — floated in plain view of a busy bridge, prompting drivers to slow down, take photos, and even pull over.
No one has claimed responsibility, and city officials say they have no idea who put it there or why.
“It just showed up one morning and has been making people smile ever since,” said police.
Residents have embraced the duck, nicknaming it “Quackenstein.” Officials say the duck doesn’t appear to pose any safety risk but urge onlookers not to get too close. Traffic, as expected, has been a bit of a mess.
