“Cat turns up 1,500 km away from home”
A Florida family’s missing cat turned up weeks later at a North Carolina shelter 1,500 km from home.
Shelter officials found the injured cat and brought it back to the shelter.
The cat was scanned for a microchip, which identified her as Xena, a feline from Florida, 1,500 km from Corolla.
But the reason the feline was so far away isn’t so surprising.
Xena’s owners said the cat had been missing during their visit to Corolla during the Fourth of July weekend.
“They were very excited,” Welfare spokesperson Rachael Stone said. “They were in awe. They had kind of lost hope that they were going to find her.”
The family made the drive up from Florida to bring Xena home.
