“Surfer dogs”
Dozens of dogs took to the water in Northern California for the tenth annual World Dog Surfing Championships.
It is an event where four-legged competitors show off their wave-riding skills in front of cheering crowds.
The dogs competed in divisions based on size, from small breeds up to large ones.
There was an additional “tandem” category featuring dogs paired up with their humans or with other dogs on the same board.
Each competing dog wore a life vest for safety, and owners swam alongside to help position their pets and give them a push into the waves.
