“Cheap painting sells for 8 million baht”
A man who found a painting at a garage sale for $30 later discovered it was worth $250,000.
The man saw the painting and liked it because it contained a strange collection of seashells.
He bought it for the equivalent of a thousand baht.
Recently the man noticed a similar painting in a Chicago museum and realized his painting was by famous artist Gertrude Abercrombie.
An expert authenticated it as a genuine long-lost 1951 work titled Alderman Merriam’s Shells.
It’s going to auction in October with an expected value of $250,000, or a little over 8 million baht.
